Job Description

If you are a CPU IC Architect looking for a new challenge, this could be the role for you! A successful technology business with 1,300 employees worldwide are looking for a CPU IC Architect to join their R&D office in Fareham, Hampshire.

As the CPU IC Architect, you will have expertise in the system design space and relevant  computing technologies, as well as the design process: requirements capture, architecture development, system modelling, specification and system validation.

Main responsibilities of the CPU IC Architect job:

  • Definition and design of new generation of CPUs and microarchitectures and the associated Peripheral IPs.
  • Be the technical lead in translating marketing and system level requirements into hardware and firmware implementations. (including executable requirements through appropriate modelling)
  • RTL design of high performance processor core and related peripherals.
  • Contribute to design verification, synthesis, power reduction, timing convergence, and floorplan efforts
  • Drive key technology and architectural choices to trade-off system cost, feature set, performance and time-to-market
  • Conduct system trades offs to optimize system partitioning
  • Define system level validation plans to ensure products meet requirements

Key skills required for the CPU IC Architect job:

  • Development experience from clean-sheet to product tapeout and post silicon debug (with good knowledge of the IP maturity models).
  • Verilog RTL design, integration and verification expertise with industry tools in a CPU / SOC environment (including modelling with Matlab or similar tooling)
  • Knowledge of synthesis, place and route and timing closure
  • Expertise of embedded processors (RISC-V preferable), bus architectures and high-speed memories
  • Experience of low power and power management techniques
