A market leading organisation are looking to add an R&D Development Engineer to join their growing design team in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
This company design and manufacture a range of fire detection technologies that are used globally. They are now looking to add an R&D Development Engineer to apply both theoretical and practical knowledge through investigations, working closely with Engineering and Manufacturing.
Key responsibilities of the R&D Development Engineer job:
- Solve technical problems and lead technical investigations
- Lead Sustaining Engineering work across the product portfolio
- Improve technical product test capabilities
- Advise and mentor other members of the Engineering team
- Drive continuous improvement by providing guidance to the engineering leadership on policy and process
Key skills / experience required for the R&D Development Engineer job:
- 5+ years of Engineering experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
- Solid knowledge of electronics design and related tools and techniques
- Professional experience with development of electronics & products that include embedded software
- STEM background – optics / LIDAR would be ideal
- Some knowledge of embedded C development, including experience developing on baremetal systems
- Exposure to formal problem-solving techniques (e.g. 8D process).
- Experience with Python would be beneficial
- A driving licence is required as the site in Cambridge is very difficult to reach by public transport
