Our client is a leading manufacturing facility seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to take charge of their manufacturing system within the allocated manufacturing cells. Role Overview:
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the safe and LEAN processes for existing and new products in the allocated manufacturing cells. Your expertise will ensure that operations run smoothly, meeting high-quality standards, staying on schedule, and operating within budget.
Key Responsibilities for the Senior Manufacturing Engineer based in Eastbourne, East Sussex:
- Provide manufacturing engineering support to the manufacturing operational team when required.
- Drive continuous improvement activities, focusing on quality, cycle times, cost reduction, and process enhancement through lean techniques and value engineering.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical specifications for manufacturing equipment.
- Implement a robust training process, including procedures, documentation, and traceability to develop and maintain workforce competences within the allocated manufacturing cells.
- Establish and maintain appropriate metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Manufacturing process in the allocated cells.
- Design, prove, implement, and maintain Cell manufacturing system layout.
General Accountabilities for the Senior Manufacturing Engineer based in Eastbourne, East Sussex
- Take ownership and accountability for resolving or supporting any non-conformities impacting the manufacturing process of the allocated cells, whether internal or external.
- Define, set up, and optimize processes within the allocated manufacturing cells.
- Ensure accuracy and optimization of manufacturing technical data, including routings and SOPs, within the allocated manufacturing cells.
- Ensure compliance of production processes with current Health, Safety, and Environment regulations.
- Adopt a responsible approach to health and safety for themselves and others.
- Conduct investigations for the EC implementation process and take ownership of the consequential phase-out/in process for involved parts and products.
Qualifications and Experience required:
- Degree in an engineering subject or HNC/D NVQ Level 4 in an engineering subject with additional relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles.
- Strong project management experience, including handling complex and technically challenging projects.
- Experience working within an assembly environment (SMA, Through hole PCA assembly, Wave solder).
