Vent Engineering are specialists in natural and smoke ventilation systems and have been importing, manufacturing, supplying, installing, and commissioning smoke ventilation systems for over 35 years for a variety of projects of all shapes and sizes.

 

The Role:


We are seeking an experienced controls engineer to work in our office based in Poole, Dorset.

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise, self-motivation, and the ability to work effectively in both team and independent settings. The primary responsibilities include creating software for our own natural and smoke ventilation control panels, electrical schematics, and programming of industrial programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

 

The role will involve occasional on-site visits across the country for system support to project managers, installers, and commissioners.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Read and understand electrical schematics, as well as produce/modify existing schematics.
  • Write and modify software for control panels and automation system. Developing, installing and fault finding.
  • Translation of customer specification into designs for electronic and control products.
  • Proactively staying abreast of the latest trends to drive product development initiatives.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers on new and existing products.
  • Compile technical information for technical updates, product installation and operating manuals.
  • Documenting development processes.

 

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

 

  • Control System Design (Electrical circuit design & calculations).
  • AutoCAD LT Drafting (Mechanical, Equipment Layout, Circuit Diagrams, Drawing Standards & Document Control).
  • Compiling Items Lists.
  • PLC & HMI Programming
  • Knowledge of microcontrollers and peripheral components
  • Control Panel Testing for bespoke projects.
  • Experience with Schneider PLC’s, HMI’s and VSD’s.
  • Good understanding of electronics
  • Defining & specifying product requirements
  • Strong excel skills.
