Octagon Group have been asked to look for a Mechanical Engineering Manager to join a leading technology client based near Jefferson, New Jersey. This is one of many new key hires planned for 2021 and will see the company grow their team of senior staff.

The Mechanical Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing the Mechanical Design and Drafting group that is responsible for designing and documenting sheet metal, PCB layouts, wire harnessing and all associated manufacturing drawings. 

Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineering Manager job:

• Supervise Mechanical designers, PCB designers and draftspersons.
• Create and verify sheet metal fabrication, assembly drawings and mechanical bills of materials.
• Design and model power supplies with associated internal sub-assemblies including 3D models, PCB footprints and harnessing for proper fit and function.
• Create and verify sheet metal fabrication, assembly drawings and mechanical bills of materials.
• Participate in regular design reviews.
• Specify and maintain mechanical design tools and software.

Key Skills & Experience required for the Mechanical Engineering Manager job:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Relevant design experience and proven experience in an engineering leadership role.
• Electronic packaging experience is essential.
• Strong knowledge of CAD software and drafting procedures including PADS, SolidWorks, AutoCAD and 3D modelling.
