Octagon Group are currently working with a global energy technology company with offices in Houston, Texas who are seeking a talented Geophysical Data Scientist – C++ to join their team.
Within this role you will research and develop complex algorithms which support one of the company’s core seismic imaging applications. You will utilise cutting-edge AI and Machine Learning techniques to support automation processes whilst developing and deploying data science/analytics workflows in a cloud-native environment. You will assist in the optimisation of code and present the results of your projects to the wider business and external clients. As a Geophysical Data Scientist – C++ you will operate in a multidisciplinary R&D environment, working closely with a team of talented engineers in Houston, Texas.
Requirements for the Geophysical Data Scientist – C++ role:
- PhD or equivalent level education in a quantitative field, e.g. Physics, Geophysics, Applied Mathematics
- Strong knowledge of inverse problems, numerical inversion, numerical simulation, linear and nonlinear solvers, and optimization.
- Professional development experience utilising C++ in a HPC or Scientific environment
- Strong knowledge of python programming
- An appreciation of modern AI and machine learning techniques
- An interest in working with cutting-edge high-performance computing technologies
