JOB DESCRIPTION:
R&D Engineer – Research & Development
SCOPE AND PURPOSE:
Ensures the execution of detail orientated investigations via theoretical analysis, application of CAE tools and physical testing in accordance with the projects’ time parameters and specifications.
Ensures the proposal, evaluation and optimisation of creative solutions for particular elements and systems with a view to increasing product efficiency and performance.
Collaborates with internal and external testing centres, engineering departments, suppliers and process/technology developers with a view to meeting project requirements and objectives.
Ensures submission of detailed engineering reports and patent applications with a mind on the suitability of submitting a formal research paper.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Implement and develop CAE methodologies and procedures to support the on-going development of road and race products
· Utilise FEA and CFD tools to carry out structural, aero and thermal simulations to predict and optimise products and features
· Develop novel solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems
· Interpret technical requirements to ensure investigations achieve their objectives effectively
· Coordinate and conduct physical testing and data acquisition, both on and off site
· Analise and interrogate data
· Produce technical reports and presentations for internal and external groups
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams
· Adhere to industry specific quality standards (TS16949 / ISO9001)
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience (inc. internship) preferably in the automotive industry
EDUCATION:
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
