A market leading organisation are looking to add a Mechanical Design Manager to their growing design team in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.

This company design and manufacture a range of detection-based safety technologies that are sold all over the UK. These products are used within the consumer electronics industry, and they are looking to add a Mechanical Design Manager to their development department.

You’ll spearhead engineering configuration across a diverse range of products. Reporting to the Technical Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing product configuration throughout its lifecycle, ensuring accuracy and compliance. This is an opportunity to lead a team, drive standardization initiatives, and contribute to operational efficiency and growth.

Key skills / experience required for the Mechanical Design Manager job:

• Lead product configuration throughout its lifecycle, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Manage numbering systems, ECN/CR processes, and standardization initiatives.
• Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Oversee supplier relationships and act as a Design Authority for mechanical designs.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices.

Skills and Qualifications required for the Mechanical Design Manager job:

• Expertise in product configuration management systems and CAD tools.
• Familiarity with PDM, PLM, and ERP systems.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in team management and coaching.
