Project Manager – Delivery & Customer Programmes (Southampton)

Please note: This role requires Security Clearance and the successful applicant will need to have lived in the UK for the past 5 years. 

A leading international engineering and technology business is seeking a Project Manager – Delivery & Customer Programmes to support the successful fulfilment of customer orders and ensure smooth delivery across complex technical products.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of post-sale delivery, customer engagement, and cross-functional coordination within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

As part of the programme’s function, you will act as the primary customer contact during the production and delivery phase, managing call-off orders, tracking delivery schedules, escalating risks, and ensuring clear communication across operations, procurement, planning, quality and logistics. You’ll play a key role in maintaining customer satisfaction and supporting continuous improvement across the order-to-delivery lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities – Project Manager (Delivery & Customer Programmes)

  • Act as the main customer contact for ongoing production and delivery activity

  • Manage delivery timelines and provide clear, accurate updates to customers

  • Coordinate with Operations, Procurement, Planning, Production, Quality, and Logistics teams

  • Receive, process, and track call-off orders through the full production lifecycle

  • Maintain delivery documentation, status reports, order books and trackers

  • Escalate risks or delays in line with established project governance

  • Support warranty and RMA processes, ensuring smooth handover to support teams

  • Prepare project/delivery reporting for internal stakeholders

  • Contribute to process improvements across order-to-delivery operations


Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

  • Experience in a customer-facing, coordination, or project support role within engineering, manufacturing, or a technical environment

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Experience using ERP systems (e.g., SAP or similar)

  • Proficiency with MS Office tools, including Excel, Project, Teams and SharePoint

  • Understanding of project management principles and delivery lifecycles (APM-aligned)

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly to customers and internal teams

Desirable:

  • Experience within a regulated industry such as defence, aerospace, or electronics

  • APM PFQ or similar project management training

  • Experience producing reports, dashboards, or delivery documentation

  • Awareness of commercial contracts or in-service support processes
