Octagon Group are currently working with a global company providing sustainable solutions within the energy sector with offices in Abingdon, Oxfordshire who are seeking a talented C++ Computational Software Engineer to join their team!
Within this role your work will focus on one of the company’s core applications which geothermal energy systems, implementing new features and maintaining a complex, cutting-edge piece of technology. You will work within a talented multidisciplinary team of engineers, mathematicians and geophysicists, supporting complex modelling and scientific simulations. Working on a hybrid basis from the company site in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, you will utilise C++ alongside a host of industry-specific tools, your work will incorporate significant machine learning and numerical simulation aspects, making this role well suited to an individual from a scientific software, research or mathematical discipline.
Requirements for the C++ Computational Software Engineer role:
- 3+ years of professional development experience in a relevant scientific or engineering field
- Degree level education in a relevant field including Mathematics, Physics, and Reservoir Simulation
- Core C++ development skills, including strong knowledge of object oriented techniques
- Experience in a numerically focussed environment and knowledge of machine learning techniques advantageous
- Exposure to geochemistry modelling/simulation tools such as PHREEQC or the Geochemists Workbench
