A global technology business based in Slough are looking for a Controls Engineer to join their development team. They are a part of a FTSE100 company and a leader in their field, with products ranging from standard to bespoke solutions.
The Controls Engineer will be developing new PLC control system designs, testing electrical/electronic control systems, programming Allen Bradley PLC’s and HMI’s and commissioning special projects when required.
Key responsibilities of the Controls Engineer job:
- Develop and maintain equipment using Allen Bradley PLCs Micro800, CompactLogix and associated HMIs by writing PLC/HMI code
- Create function blocks in structured text and ladder logic
- Understand how to integrate the system into customer’s overall control system using Ethernet and Modbus protocols
- Troubleshoot issues with software and hardware in Test department
Key skills / experience required for the Controls Engineer job:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Controls based qualification
- Experience of developing and designing code for PLC/HMI
- The ability to read, understand electrical and control schematics
- Experience in embedded C/C++ would be beneficial
