My client is a UK based leader in the design and manufacture of advanced power electronics used in the defence and aerospace sector based in Didcot, Oxfordshire. With a healthy pipeline of new custom design projects to deliver the company is looking for an experienced engineer with an aptitude for team leadership and management to direct the activities of a small, multi-disciplined team of professional electronics engineers.
As Engineering Manager, you will prioritise and focus the activities of the various engineering disciplines in order to deliver streamlined engineering solutions that fully satisfy project requirements.
Key responsibilities of this Engineering Manager – Electronics are:
- Responsible for the delivery of product design activities (primarily electrical/power electronics) within their specific projects allocated to him/her to manage through their team.
- In conjunction with the relevant Project Manager, provide the organisational focus and direction for projects, together with responsibility for the achievement of the project deliverables, ensuring products are successfully realised on time, on budget and with minimal risk.
- Become the driving force behind the plan and ensuring the whole team is reacting to the issues as they appear.
- Responsible for product technical performance from initial concept through to serial production. Aiming to regiment right first-time delivery.
- You will be required to get involved with the hands-on design from time to time so its important you have a technical background in Electronics Design (preferably power electronics)

- Hands on industrial experience as an Electronics Design Engineer or Electrical Design Engineer.
- Strong people management experience e.g. development plans, appraisals and one to one meetings.
- Previous roles may include: Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer, Technical Lead, Engineering Team Leader, Project Manager, Head of Engineering, Chief Engineer, Technical Manager or similar
- Strong attention to detail, technical excellence and innovation.
- Experienced in all Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, Visio & Project
- Full UK driving licence, prepared for overseas travel as required
