Position
Job Summary:
CSA Catapult seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to join our Power Electronics team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in line management, coaching, and mentoring and a strong background in power electronics R&D or related engineering area. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of engineers, ensuring their professional development and contributing to the growth and success of the department.
The Engineering Manager will provide strategic support to the Head of Power Electronics and will exemplify the behaviours and values of the CSA Catapult of collaboration, innovation, and trust. They should have excellent team working skills, act as a technical coach and mentor to other engineers, and should be able to communicate with other team members in an encouraging and supportive way.
Key Responsibilities:
- Line management, coaching and mentoring of the power electronics team
- Professional development and training of power electronics team members
- Support project managers with team member assignments based on required skills and availability
- Budgeting and control of departmental OPEX and CAPEX
- Interfacing with CSA Catapult Laboratory and Facility teams
- Team recruitment and support in general affairs
- Manage, mentor and develop a team of power electronics engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional growth and success.
- Assign projects to team members to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Ensure that team members receive regular training and professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and capabilities to perform their duties effectively.
- Oversee and control the department’s operational and capital expenditures, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.
- Participate in the recruitment process for the power electronics team, assessing candidates and making recommendations for hiring.
- Provide support in general affairs, ensuring that the department runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Maintain open and effective communication with team members, stakeholders and other departments, ensuring that all relevant parties are kept informed and involved.
Requirements
Managerial & Supervisory:
- The Engineering Manager will coordinate and supervise power electronics engineers
Expected Experience
- Proven experience in electronics engineering and line management
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills
- Excellent management and budgeting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead a team and drive results in a fast-paced environment
Desirable Experience
- Proven experience in power electronics R&D.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Skills in data analytics and programming.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field
