Who we are: Alces Flight Ltd designs and develops innovative software for HPC/supercomputer systems across the UK. We have a wide customer base in multiple market sectors including academic/research institutions, life sciences, banking, manufacturing and Formula One.
Due to ever growing demand in the industry for our HPC managed hardware and cloud products we’re expanding and looking for highly motivated individuals to join our internal systems operations team and help play their part in the extension of our industry-renowned reputation for excellent support and first class products.
About you: You are a hard-working developer with a passion for open source software and Linux. You work well in diverse teams with both technical and non-technical colleagues. We will consider applicants with commercial experience in any general purpose programming language.
What you’ll do: – Research, design and implement new software programs – Develop and integrate existing software programs and platforms – Participate in group meetings and make presentations to your peers – Be exposed to cutting-edge software technologies and methodologies and help to move the
business forward – Hands on design / implementation and testing – Take full ownership and responsibility for delivery of your projects – Help improve the team/company and product processes – Be exposed to large scale computer systems and supercomputers, as well as emerging
technologies such as public and private IaaS.
What you’re good at: – All things software development – Working individually as well as part of teams – Your interests/skills have particular emphasis on open source software and Linux environments – Working with others both technical and non-technical – Solving problems; you understand that most business problems can be solved in numerous ways
Our Ideal Person: – Can demonstrate an open-source background, e.g. GitHub, personal projects, etc. – Is a fast mover and has a strong drive to progress further with their career in a hands-on highly
challenging role. – Is an evangelist of agile processes and knows when each can be applied.
Qualifications: – Bachelor degree in Computer Science (or similar technical field), and – Two years commercial experience.
