Purpose of role

 

FireAngel Safety Technology Ltd design and distribute domestic electrical safety products across Europe and other territories. The aim of the role is to support the overseas manufacturing interface. This role will entail interaction with internal functions at technical levels and work with the external CEMs to support the manufacturing processes relating to new projects and manufacturing sustainability.

 

General duties & responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Manufacturing Systems in the launch of new products through DFX and by being the expert in manufacturing and supplier methods.
  • In conjunction with R&D and the factories review the process for the development of production/test equipment, jigs and fixtures and support the development of Production Specifications at the earliest possible stage.
  • In conjunction with R&D and the Product Configuration Controller, develop formal Bill of Materials (BoMs) for new products and support the update of BoMs through formal change processes. Ensure compliance to the BoMs by the CEMs by periodic review of BoM data and onsite audits.
  • With the suppliers and Fireangel supplier management develop ramp plans and support the factories in the set-up of production for the launch of new products ensuring material, processes and factory resource are available to achieve the required Engineering Prototype, Production Prototype and ramp to volume dates, at the required quality and cost.
  • Within our supply base, evaluate manufacturing processes with a constant aim of improvement; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • On behalf of R&D and Quality, provide general onsite support to the factories for existing products, including supporting the resolution of quality and process yield issues and the implementation of Product Change Requests (PCRs).
  • Support the Head of Manufacturing in developing and delivering automated production data reporting systems for use by quality and supply chain teams.
  • Advise and document agreed rework process where the rework must be carried out at an approved production site. Set up the rework process and hand over Quality or supply chain once stable.
  • Perform data analytics of production data to support decisions at all levels of the business.
  • Report progress and highlight risks, including identification of opportunities for recovery at the earliest possible stage, to all levels of the business.

 

  • Support and represent manufacturing in 8D investigations run by the Quality department.
  • Ensure that processes and ways of working actively promote quality, ensuring ISO9000 process adherence and improvement.
  • Maintain product and company reputation.

The skills and specifications that the role needs are as follows:

  • Has expertise, or at minimum, working knowledge in electronics, mechanical design, or embedded software.
  • Knowledge in databases (MySQL), Labview and/or C# programming would be desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with an engineering acumen.
  • Highly motivated, flexible, professional, and progressive team member.
  • Ability to operate on and off site at our global supply base.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Great problemsolving skills with high attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.
  • Computer literate (MS office applications specifically; high standard of Excel skills and PLM system experiences is desirable)
  • Must hold a full driving license, and international travel, can be expected.

 

Supplementary Roles: The nature of operations is such that on occasions, all employees are expected to tackle short-term assignments, appropriate to their abilities. In this job, these are most likely to involve such tasks as assisting the wider Operations team in times of high workload or where there is a shortage of labour due to absence.
