Security Controller – Hayes, Middlesex

A challenging and rewarding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Personnel Security Controller based in Hayes, Middlesex, working at the heart of a secure business environment. The Personnel Security Controller will be accountable to the Board of Directors and will lead the strategic development of an effective personnel security culture alongside day-to-day delivery of robust security policy and procedures.

Key Responsibilities of the Personnel Security Controller –  Hayes, Middlesex:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of Physical and Personnel Security across the business.

  • Maintain and evolve security policies and procedures to reflect changing business needs, in line with Government Functional Standards such as GovS 007: Security and JSP 440/441/490.

  • Work in collaboration with HR, IT, and Facilities to embed security into all relevant functions and projects.

  • Oversee security vetting procedures for staff and contractors, ensuring compliance with vetting standards (SC/DV).

  • Maintain and communicate the Security Aspects Register and Security Risk Register effectively.

  • Respond to and manage security incidents or breaches, including oversight of investigations and appropriate escalation/reporting.

  • Deliver initial and ongoing security education and awareness across the company, from induction to exit processes.

  • Advise senior management and stakeholders on security controls, risk mitigation, and compliance with contractual, regulatory, and legislative requirements.

  • Liaise with local authorities and external stakeholders to understand and respond to the wider security landscape in Hayes, Middlesex.


Experience and Knowledge Required – Personnel Security Controller – Hayes, Middlesex

  • Previous experience in a List X / FSC environment or Protective Security role, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering setting.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of UK Government Security frameworks, including GovS 007, JSPs, and Information Assurance Standards.

  • Strong understanding of Physical Security Management Systems and IT Security principles.

  • Comfortable working with high levels of discretion and integrity due to access to sensitive and personal information.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage internal teams and senior external stakeholders.

  • Sound project leadership skills and the ability to influence cross-functional collaboration.

  • Proficient in using PC applications, particularly for document handling and reporting.


Desirable Attributes:

  • Familiarity with approved security products and build standards.

  • Current SC Clearance.

  • Proactive mindset and continuous improvement approach.


Education and Citizenship Requirements:

  • A strong general standard of education.

  • British citizenship is mandatory.

  • Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
