Job Title: Power Electronics Electrical Engineer

Location: Houston, TX

Halliburton has immediate opportunity for Power Electronics Engineer that will be located Houston, Tx. This is a hybrid position.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Responsible for

  • Design of DC/DC and AC/DC converters for high efficiency in space constrained environments with knowledge of voltage and current control methods and advanced understanding of modern power supply topologies
  • Motor control: Simulation, modeling / algorithm and hardware and software design and implementation
  • Design of high efficiency, high power magnetics and filters
  • Uses software tools or applications to perform routine analysis to predict performance of electronic circuits or control systems and identifies design improvements by evaluating results.
  • Contributes in reliability analysis such as risk assessments and Failure Mode Effects Analysis by compiling and examining data.
  • Identifies the testing requirement at a system level with the emphasis on complying with test standards and Halliburton’s Health, Safety, and Environment procedures.
  • Contributes to Halliburton’s Intellectual Property portfolio by preparing Invention Disclosures and recognizing ideas that have Intellectual Property potential without disclosing confidential information.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or 2 years of related experience
  • Skills in the area of power electronics; 0.5KW to 3KW power generation and regulation are preferred.
  • Knowledge in simulation and modeling of power electronics designs as well as hands on testing to validate analytical work
  • Keen understanding of power electronic devices (MOSFET, SiC JFET, IGBT, SCR) and their application in power electronics designs
  • Understanding of thermal management and PCB layout and assembly of power electronics designs
  • Ability to simulate systems and sub-systems, execute test plans, document designs and test results
  • Knowledge in motor drive and control, control systems, digital design, signal processing, analog circuit design and embedded systems.
  • Skills acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline and 2 years of related experience.
