Barnstaple based (with a mix of office and home-based working)

£51k – £65k per annum. DOE + Benefits inc. half day Friday, flexi time, hybrid working patterns and more.

Our defence team manufactures and supports a wide range of Ship and Fleet protection capabilities, used by navies across the world. Our intelligent systems provide agile solutions in nature’s most challenging environment, to deliver a rapid response to ever-evolving surface, subsurface and air threats.

We have an impactful and exciting opportunity for a Principal Electronics Engineer to join the existing team based in Barnstaple. You will lead the electrical and electronic design and development of our products utilising state-of-the-art methods, technology and tools to explore all aspects of the development lifecycle, engineering analysis, requirements analysis, design, implementation, test, build and product support.

What you’ll do

  • Take responsibility for the Electrical and Electronic Engineering delivery of a variety of Electro-mechanical Systems supplied by SEA working to agreed cost, time and quality.
  • Seek and share good practice and knowledge locally to continuously improve own practices.
  • Support and facilitate reviews and approvals of electrical & electronic designs in accordance with business and industry standards.
  • Provide input to Company standards pertaining to Electrical and Electronic Engineering including calculations, CAD models, manufacturing drawings & schematics and technical reports.
  • Support SEA products through manufacturing, assembly, installation and service life.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Design and development of Analogue and Digital Electronic Circuits,
  • PCB design from Schematic capture to PCB layout,
  • ECAD to MCAD using Altium and Solidworks,
  • Experience in the design and manufacture of Electro-mechanical Systems;
  • Experience in the design and development of Electronic
  • Ability to follow a methodical/systematic approach to analyse and solve problems, identifying key facts and breaking down complex information to components parts;
  • Full lifecycle experience from requirements decomposition to acceptance and user sign off on multi-disciplinary programmes;
  • Experience of requirements capture, analysis, V&V and configuration management
