Production Engineer
Purpose:
We are looking for a Production Engineer to provide process related technical support to manufacturing operations.
This includes the introduction of newly developed products to manufacture, sustaining of existing manufacturing
operations and the retirement of products at the end of market life. We are also in the process of moving our entire
workplace, so you’ll be working alongside the Operations Director and Operations Manager to manage this and
ensure a smooth transition.
Further responsibilities will include:
• The design of aids – such as tools, fixtures, and
jigs to support manufacturing processes
• Identifying manufacturing needs for new
product introductions
• Assisting with shop floor layout and cell
designs
• To author and maintain process
documentation e.g., SOP’s
• Bill of materials maintaining and restructuring
• To develop, implement and maintain
manufacturing processes that meet Quality,
Cost and Delivery (QCD) targets.
• Routing time studies for assemblies
• Training manufacturing staff on newly
introduced or modified processes
• Undertaking process risk management
• Implementation of a manufacturing
equipment register to ensure equipment is
properly maintained, calibrated, and
operating as intended.
• To apply a continuous improvement (CI)
approach to identifying opportunities for
improvement
• Working closely with the Quality team to
determine root cause of manufacturing non-
conformance and implement corrective and
preventive actions (CAPA) where necessary
• To contribute to R&D design reviews to
provide manufacturing process technical
insight.
Requirements:
In order for your application to be considered, you’ll need to have a degree or equivalent qualification in
manufacturing engineering (or similar), as well as the following skills and experience:
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes
relating to electro-mechanical products
• Technical support of manufacturing
operations
• New product development and introduction
to manufacture
• Third party interfacing to contract
manufacturers, part suppliers and external
design and technical resources
• Direct experience in scientific equipment
would be an advantage but is not essential
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing
• Must be able to troubleshoot issues and solve
problems independently
• Proficient in the use of 3D CAD modelling
applications e.g., SolidWorks
• Use of ERP/MRP systems
• Excellent knowledge of a wide variety of
manufacturing processes and their
appropriate application e.g., injection
moulding, vacuum forming, machining, sheet
metal fabrication, PCB assembly and test etc.
• Adopts a collaborative working style
• Methodical structured approach
• Flexible and adaptable approach to working
