Are you an experienced Senior Electronics Design Engineer looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic and innovative environment?

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electronics Design Engineer to be a pivotal member of their engineering team based in a brand new and state of the art R&D & manufacturing facility in Portsmouth. The primary purpose of this role is to lead the design and work independently on low/high voltage electronics circuits related to power electronics applications. This includes simulation, design calculations, schematics, PCB layouts, testing, and debugging circuit designs to deliver a complete design work package for the development of new power electronics products used in a wide range of applications such as automotive, rail, energy and more.

As a Senior Electronics Design Engineer, you will:

  1. Develop new electronics hardware circuits based on requirements.
  2. Understand and debug embedded electronics hardware, including micro-controllers.
  3. Exhibit strong knowledge of analog circuits.
  4. Understand basic power electronics circuits such as DC/AC, DC/DC, and AC/DC.
  5. Work independently, taking full ownership of sub-system design.
  6. Understand existing circuits and take the lead in designing electronic circuits.
  7. Select components, capture schematics, and generate PCB design files.
  8. Design analog circuits (sensor inputs, high/low side drivers, linear, and LV power supply).
  9. Design digital circuits (processor, control logic, memory, and communications interfaces).
  10. Ensure designs comply with automotive standards for EMC, ESD, safety, vibration, and environmental requirements.

Key Skills and Competencies needed as a Senior Electronics Design Engineer:

  1. BEng first class or MEng in Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  2. Over 5 years of experience in an electronic engineering environment
  3. Some knowledge on power electronics is a must whether it’s from industrial experience or from university
  4. Desirable: Experience with Altium Designer.
  5. Desirable: Systems integration experience.
