The Role

Portable Electric is currently looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager to join our team. As the only member of the Product team, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy and will set the strategy, build the product roadmap for our hardware and software products, as well as execute product delivery from inception to launch.  
 
As our Senior Product Manager, you will report into our CEO and will need to be strategic, technical and hands-on.  

Your Impact as the Senior Product Manager

• Develop and communicate a clear product strategy and vision for the organization’s hardware and software products (Voltstack Neuron OS) which aligns with company’s vision and goals 
• Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of the competitive landscape (hardware, software, go to market strategies) and convert to actionable insights that differentiate our product portfolio 
• Build the product roadmap and drive the end-to-end product development lifecycle  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering (mainly hardware and software teams), sales and marketing, to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products  
• Breakdown the roadmap into deliverables (e.g. monthly and quarterly) for the internal teams and ensure alignment in executing the roadmap  
• Develop the core positioning and messaging for the product suite especially as Power’-as-a-Service (P’aaS)  
• Work with internal stakeholders to set pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals 
• Propose and manage product management budget, including engagement with external resources as required  
• Contribute to an environment that fosters strong team dynamic through success recognition, team empowerment, active coaching, and staff education 
   

Education and Experience Requirement

• 5+ years of product management experience working with hardware and software products 
• 5+ years of experience in the energy, or cleantech industry  
• Experience working with power electronics, IoT (internet of things) and telecommunications technology would be an asset 
• Experience working with Fortune 500 customers with international coverage is an asset 
• Experience working in a high-growth, scale-up “start-up like” environment 

Technical and Soft Skills You Bring

• Have strong technical knowledge to be able to converse with the engineering team and customers 
• Experience in the realm of relevant hardware and software technologies (e.g. electrification, batteries, power, control systems, firmware, software) 
• Successfully launched hardware and/or software products from ideation stage to development stage to market  
• Financial, budgetary and project leadership acumen; brings both business and technical product management expertise 
• Experience with Product Management Tools (e.g. Jira, GitHub, Aha!) and MS Office Suite  
• Client-focused and solution-focused 
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders 
• Proactive, assertive, and comfortable with cold calls 

Where You Will Be Located

• This is a hybrid role with the requirement to work out of our Vancouver, BC office (3030 East Broadway) and flexibility to work from home
• Candidates must be located in or around Vancouver and be able to reliably commute to this location to be considered for this role
