Mission/Purpose of the Job (one or two sentences that sum up the reason the job is needed):

To provide technician level first-line and long-term support for all PCA Test Systems and Module Test Systems in Operations.

Execute various tasks to aid in reducing FTTFR and increasing Test equipment resilience.

 

 

 

Main Responsibilities (Give 6 to 8 main areas of work. State what is to be done –to what – the end result e.g. Develop, agree and implement detailed sales plans to increase market share in Europe):

 

Production support

  • Carry out fault diagnosis of boards that fail PCA test and returned line-side rejects, to determine if issue is test related or genuine fault with the product and take appropriate remedial action.
  • Ensure causes of all failures are properly logged, to aid in implementing appropriate corrective actions.
  • Carry out diagnostics of PCA test systems and replace parts as required.
  • Initial first level investigation on failed functional test systems.

 

Test equipment maintenance.

  • Carry out regular preventative maintenance on PCA test fixtures.
  • Carry out weekly cleaning and preventative maintenance of PCA test systems (Keysight i3070)
  • Carry out extra heavy overhaul of PCA fixtures ¼ and ¾ life points, as part of full lifecycle maintenance process. (Full re-probe and gasket change)
  • Carry out annual inspection and servicing of all of PCA test systems (Keysight i3070).
  • Carry out regular Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) activities on module test systems as detailed on MaintainX.
  • Carry out annual inspection and servicing of all functional test systems.
  • Ensure all documentation related to Module Test systems TPM activities is present and kept up to date

 

Test improvement projects.

  • Aid Test Support and PCA Manufacturing engineers as required, to implement ongoing projects to improve yield, FTTFR, and test-times.
  • Ensure all sacrificial leads are drawn up and correctly setup in a Kanban system.
  • Ensure equipment provided for calibration in timely manner.
  • Manage spares stocks.
  • Maintain Test Support workshop.
  • Aid in building, commissioning and acceptance of replacement test systems.

Skills / Knowledge / Experience
  • Education level: Ideally A-level, NVQ level 3, or ONC in Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) preferred
  • 1 year work experience in a manufacturing test engineering environment essential.

 

  • Ideally experience in maintaining ICT and Final test systems (in particular Keysight 3070) and fixtures or other automated test systems.

 

  • Be able to read circuit and test fixture schematics.

 

  • Experience of undertaking annual and monthly preventative maintenance within a team using MaintainX.

 

  • Ability to accurately interpret and follow technical instructions.

 

  • First line ticket response in production when needed.

 

  • Assist in the calibration of Finals and ECT test equipment that will involve exchanging and setting up replacement equipment.

 

  • Be able to fault-find PCB assemblies to component level

 

  • Methodical and eye for detail.

 

  • Other requirements: Good team working ability and interpersonal communications skills are critical. Flexibility to perform multiple roles as part of a small team. Outgoing personality and ability to identify improvements and effect change

 

 

 

Scope of the job (give details of nature and scope of role)

We are looking for a candidate with a strong hands-on background in Test System Support, and an aptitude for fault-finding and troubleshooting, to be a Technician for the Test Support Team, ensuring that they provide effective first-line and long-term support for all PCA Test Systems and Module Test Systems in Operations.

 

They should have experience of front-line troubleshooting, together with an understanding of the importance of identifying long-term issues and putting in place proactive long-term solutions.
