The Company
The UK office is one of seven LASER COMPONENTS’ businesses, with similar sales offices in France, USA and Sweden, and with production facilities in Montreal Canada, Tempe Arizona USA and Olching near Munich Germany, which is also the headquarters of the Group that formed in 1982. The UK sales office (LCUK) was formed in 1993 and offers a large range of photonics components primarily to the UK and Republic of Ireland.
Approximately half of these photonic components are manufactured by the LASER
COMPONENTS Group with the remaining supplied by partner suppliers, which are listed on our website.
The products supplied include light sources such as laser diodes and IR emitters, optical components such as lenses, mirrors, beam splitters, optical filters such as NBP, LWP, SWP, detectors such as SiC, Si, InGaAs, pyro and thermopile, and fibre optics such as couplers, FO switches, lithium niobate EO modulators, FO bundles, FO pigtailed detectors and lasers, FO tools and accessories, all spanning the UV to MIR spectrum.
Quality remains our highest priority. Delivering high quality goods to our customer is maintained through a number of quality checks and together with our partner suppliers we continuously improve our systems and practices to meet the increasing demands on our business.
The Opportunity
At LCUK we seek a Sales person who has experience in selling optoelectronic components whilst retaining a technical understanding of the products within the customers’ applications. The right candidate will also have excellent business development skills, ideally with experience in the Aerospace and Defence Photonics sector.
The primary role is to support the Laser Optics, Optosystems and Fiber Optics divisions in achieving their bookings targets, and in turn revenue targets. The expectation will be to assist in the growth of the business as per the corporate target of 15% year-over-year. You will also be responsible for liaising with the Sales Manager, the TSEs and the Internal Sales and Marketing Lead on strategy in order to achieve these targets, pertaining to marketing and new customer generation.
On Business Development, the candidate will be responsible for growing our business – particularly in the fields of Defence and Aerospace, by finding, nurturing and converting new prospects and projects across all of our business units.
It will be necessary to exude excitement and enthusiasm in successfully driving the product lines and be responsible for selling to leading edge technology industries including defence, aerospace, communication, medical, petrochemical, pollution monitoring, power generation, space, steel, transport, universities and research.
You would describe yourself as outgoing and be able to relate to customers, peers and colleagues with an infectious manner, whilst being systematic, predictable and able to focus on detail to ensure target sales are achieved and work harmoniously within the
team. Whilst you will have proven qualifications in a related discipline you will be keen to learn more about the products we sell.
The role location is home based in the UK, with one visit per month to the office for team integration. Customer visits, exhibition attendance duties, and with an emphasis on customer engagement will also be required to increase sales.
KPIs include reaching or exceeding individual target bookings, generating new revenue, as well as other agreed KPIs.
