Principal Power Electronics Engineer – Power Supplies

If you are a passionate engineer with experience designing power electronics for motor control, AC Drives, Inverters, AC-DC or DC-DC switch-mode power supplies using various topologies then this Lead Power Electronics Engineer job could be the perfect fit for you.
Our client has been designing and manufacturing world class power conversion systems using cutting edge technology for over 30 years. They operate out of their Gateshead facility but provide their innovative power products and services worldwide.
Working closely with the Principal Project Engineer and Project Manager the Principal Power Electronics Engineer job is to support the design, development and testing of power electronics hardware and software solutions. You will be involved in the generation of all functional, component, manufacturing, test and validation specifications and will contribute to the compilation of accurate project documentation. You will also support related activities such as drawing and printed circuit board development.
This Principal Power Electronics Engineer position requires an engineer who is comfortable and competent in liaising with test and production department colleagues as well as supporting installation and commissioning of equipment at customers’ premises. You will also be called upon to provide advice and guidance on all aspects of power electronics engineering throughout the product lifecycle including device analysis and validation.
Main Duties:
+ Support the design, development and testing of power electronics hardware and software
+ Generate test and validation reports and compile accurate project documentation
+ Provide advice and guidance on all aspects of power electronics engineering
+ Support drawing and printed circuit board development
Skills and Experience Required for the Senior Power Electronics Engineer
+ Degree in Electronics Engineering (BEng 2:1 or higher) with disciplines in power
+ Experience of power electronic converters (AC:AC, DC:DC, DC:AC) and/or motor drives
+ Demonstrable experience in using simulation tools including Matlab and Simulink
+ Experience of Rail, Energy, Defence and/or Industrial power products
The salary is between £55K and £60K depending on experience + excellent benefits and relocation assistance if needed.
