A research and development organisation based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire which have been established for over 50 years and has 200+ employees are looking to expand their engineering team. They are seeking a Senior Electronic Design Engineer – Analogue/Digital to join them in their next phase of new product development.
Key responsibilities of the Senior Electronics Design Engineer job:
- Design high-technology electronic instrumentation from initial concept through to prototype.
- Work as part of a team on system designs, requirements capture and creation from specification.
- Support and work closely with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and scientists.
- Lead and mentor junior hardware / electronic engineers.
- Create reports and documentation where necessary.
Knowledge and skills required for the Senior Electronics Design Engineer job:
- Strong skills in both high-speed digital design and analogue circuit design.
- Able to write firmware to a basic level (8-bit microcontroller design using embedded C).
- Experience in prototyping, modelling, testing and debugging electronics.
- Ability to mentor junior and mid-level electronic design engineers.
- Exposure to FPGA design using VHDL would be beneficial but not essential.
- Exposure to EMC testing would beneficial but not essential.
