My client is designing electronics using advanced technologies such as SiC and GaN to combine compressors and turbines to deliver reliable and a more sustainable methods to run combustion engines.

They are now looking to grow their team in Portsmouth by adding a Senior Embedded Software Engineer. You will be working on the digital controls for 4 exciting new projects that they have just won, which includes their ultra-high speed electric motor drives.

Experience needed as a Senior Embedded Software Engineer:

• Able to write detailed specifications based on briefing from internal and / or external customers.
• Knowledge of designing, coding and testing software for embedded applications written in C
• Able to understand electronic circuit diagrams and wiring diagrams.
• Able to use standard electronics instrumentation to follow a signal through the circuit to confirm correct operation of software and diagnose problems.

Desirable experience as a Senior Embedded Software Engineer:

• Power electronics; Control theory; Communication protocols

Key qualification needed for the Senior Embedded Software Engineer position:

• B.Eng. or M.Eng. (2:1 minimum from a leading University) in a relevant subject including some software content.
• Relevant industrial experience preferred

The primary purpose of this role is to work with Senior Engineers specifying, designing, implementing and verifying software modules as may be required for new applications, new customers, or new products.

The role offers opportunities to be involved in highly technical engineering projects, and to contribute to the process, stages, and lifecycle of product development of innovative electrification technology as part of the journey to decarbonise our energy.

Would suit a software engineer who has been involved in product development activities. Enthusiasm and personality are as important as technical skills. Training will be given where necessary.
