If you know how to design high voltage AC-DC or DC-DC switch-mode power supplies, have experience designing using various topologies and have a flair for analogue and digital electronics design then this job would be perfect for you.

My client is looking for a Principal Power Electronics Engineer with low to medium power but high voltage experience to join their flagship, custom power supply design team based in West Sussex.

You will have the chance to work on advanced designs being used at the forefront of industries that require the highest quality and most efficient power supplies in the market such as scientific research, medical, telecommunications, advanced computing industries, and many more.

Responsibilities as a Principal Power Electronics Engineer

• Responsible for the design and analysis of AC-DC and DC-DC HV High Power products, systems, and subsystems/circuits primarily up to 320kV and 10kW to specification, cost, budget, schedule, and quality goals.
• Responsible for keeping up to date with the latest topologies, technologies, components, and methods for power conversion.

Qualifications of the Principal Power Electronics Engineer

• Bachelors’ degree in Engineering/Science or similar.
• Proven professional skills as an experienced engineer with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies/procedures.
• Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead team members on a project or similar.
• Experience with influencing and negotiating in complex situations.

Knowledge of high voltage power electronics, analogue, and digital design, PCB layout, EMC, SMPS design is preferable.
