Overview of the role:

 

We are looking for a Senior Thermal Design Engineer to join our railway team at TEIC. This role will be responsible

for the thermal management of power electronics converter system, junction temperature evaluation and simulation

of power components, heatsink design and simulation optimization, monitoring and control of junction temperature

of power components, cooling system testing, thermal management of PCBs and other on-board converters or

electronic systems.

 

What you will be doing in this role:

 

• Research on the structure of power component module, evaluate the temperature rise of the

junction and the temperature difference between junction and NTC sensors.

• Research on monitoring and control of junction temperature of the power components.

• Design heatsinks for converter module, including the air-cooled heatsinks and liquid-cooled heatsinks,

simulate to optimize the design.

• Research on immersion cooling of PCB embedded components.

• Research on the usage of heat pipe, vapor chamber, micro channel and other heat dissipation

technology in heatsinks.

• Research on heat dissipation of the on-board components on a PCB.

• Research on possible new heat dissipation technology for high power density devices.

• Responsible for the selection and estimation of fans and other cooling system related devices.

• Research on the thermal-electrical coupling of the power components.

• Responsible for the heat dissipation test of the converter and the heatsinks.

• Perform an integrity review of the thermal design work and be responsible for archiving the project

achievements;

• Technical exchanges with market personnel, suppliers, customers, bidding, etc.;

• Provide other management support;

• Budget control on prototype development;

• Actively collaborate with other groups and colleagues in the same group on current projects,

organize relevant meetings, follow up and timely report on key issues;

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with core technology members to ensure

efficient and rapid delivery of technical information within the department;

• Manage and maintain the relationship with external suppliers, universities and research institutions

and customers, keep efficient communication, and learn about cutting-edge technology;

• Complete other work assigned by line manager:

 

 

We would like you to have:

 

• Heat transfer and the other related education and industry background;

• 3-5 years of working experience in thermal managements of power electronics, PhD degree with at least

3 years related experience, or a master degree with at least 5 years’ experience;

• Rich experience in thermal design of power electronic converter projects based on IGBT or other power

component module;

• Experience in the heat dissipation of PCB, especially for the immersion cooling of PCB embedded

components;

• Experience in the usage of heatpipe, vapor chamber, micro channel and other possible technology in

heatsinks for high power density devices;

• Familiar with the basic process of development of heat dissipation technology on power electronics

converter, relevant standards and laws and regulations, and have deep understanding and practical

experience;

• Proficiency in ANSYS, COMSOL, CAD, CAE, Office software;

• Attention to the details in work to ensure accurate job information;

• Hardworking, passionate, strong sense of professionalism and responsibility;

• Excellent communication and coordination skills;

• Excellent system thinking and coordination skills;

• Strong resistance to stress and flexible handling of urgent tasks at work;

• Excellent time management;
