Job Description
The Software Engineering function in Ultra supports the software development lifecycle
consisting of requirements analysis, design, implementation, test and verification in
order to deliver software components into projects and products and supports the
deployment and maintenance of software components. A professional at this grade
possesses knowledge for specific fields and performs structured work assignments.
Uses established procedures to solve problems by making judgments and gets work
done with quality under moderate supervision. Has limited discretion to vary from
established procedures.
Purpose of Role
Ultra Maritime UK has a strong portfolio of in-service products and new development
projects focused on the provision of world class sonar systems for anti-submarine
warfare. These products make use of advanced signal processing, complex graphical
Human Computer Interfaces and software/hardware interfacing.
As a result, we have immediate and ongoing requirements for Software Developers with
C++ as a primary language with an aptitude for working on technically challenging
software with elements of hardware/software interfacing and integration/optimization
of sonar signal processing algorithms.
In this role you will be working with teams of software developers, analysts and
electronics engineers designing, implementing and testing sonar system solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Software Implementation in C++
• Software architectural and detailed design using UML
• Progression of assigned stories and tasks in a product backlog as part of an Agile
team
• Software Integration, test, defect analysis and resolution
• Periodic verbal reporting of progress and contributing to sprint planning
Skills, Qualification and Experience
• Competent in C++ development
• Familiar with Hardware/Software interfacing
• Comfortable designing software in a team environment with some experience of
UML design
• Some knowledge of DevOps technologies would be an advantage
• Knowledge of Python, signal processing or machine learning algorithms would
be an advantage
• Good degree in a STEM subject with some experience of software development
either as part of post graduate work or industrial experience.
