Role Overview and Responsibilities

Introduction:

Joining our team as a Calibration Service Technician, you will be field based and will be responsible for undertaking calibrations on various customer sites across the UK. You will be required to provide a safe, proactive, flexible and comprehensive calibration and technician service to our customers, to support our clients in maintaining instrumentation and systems across electrical, flow, pressure and temperature parameters of work.

 

You will ideally live in the Gloucestershire/Hereford Area.

 

The ideal candidate will be based in the above areas.

 

A company car/telephone/equipment and tools will be provided, along with other benefits.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform calibration on customer equipment using approved procedures and good metrology practices
  • Calibration of measurement instrumentation which controls and monitors flow, level, pressure and temperature systems, in line with company procedures complying with UKAS and NADCAP standards
  • Provide technical support and development to colleagues and customers
  • Install, configure, commission, calibrate and repair on-site instrumentation
  • Conduct all duties in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures and policies. Adhere to site safety rules, permit to work systems and carry out risk assessments and method statement
  • Liaise with customers prior to executing the job to ensure full understanding of the nature of the job when required, ensuring all required safety controls have been implemented
  • Comply with industry codes of practice and company Quality Management System
  • Ensure all documentation and certification are accurate and produced on time
  • Build effective working relationships both internally and externally

 

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Core Requirements

  • Apprentice trained in either calibration or engineering discipline with transferrable skills
  • Understand and comply with company and customer safe systems of work
  • Hands on experience with flow, level, pressure and temperature instrumentation
  • Be driven and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail
  • Be capable of working on their own initiative and alongside a team of professional Calibration Engineers
  • Professional manner and must be comfortable with communicating face to face with clients
  • Be comfortable with regular travel, including nights away from home
  • Be willing to work overtime when required, including occasional weekends
  • Good computer skills and familiar with Microsoft Office
  • NVQ Level 3 in electrical/electronic discipline or equivalent
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • A full UK driving licence is essential

 

Desireable Skills and Experience

  • Preferably qualified to HNC/HND in appropriate engineering field
  • Have previous experience working in a calibration role and possess a good understanding of calibration practices and theories for industrial ovens/furnaces and refrigeration systems
  • Attended the PRI Introduction to Pyrometry course for AMS2750 and possess knowledge of pyrometry to NADCAP/aerospace standards
  • Ability to configure, commission, install and repair instrumentation
