A tech giant in global energy are looking for a Hybrid Electronic Design For Manufacturability Engineer for a Engineering facility in Gloucester

Are you passionate about creating robust electro-mechanical designs that push the boundaries of innovation? We’re seeking an eDFM Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team in Gloucester, responsible for ensuring the reliability and manufacturability of our cutting-edge products. As the eDFM Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in challenging design choices, optimizing component selection, and leading the qualification of sub-assemblies and electrical systems.

Responsibilities for the eDFM Engineer:

  • Collaborate in high-level design activities and implement functional designs
  • Work closely with the design team to select components and validate design choices
  • Ensure robust mechanical design optimizing vibration & thermal compliance of electrical systems
  • Lead Design for Assembly (DFA) efforts
  • Develop manufacturing process instructions in compliance with eDFM specifications
  • Evaluate test and design capability in collaboration with the design and test engineers
  • Design jigs and tools needed for manufacturing electrical systems
  • Coordinate board transfer processes with Manufacturing Engineers and Supply Chain
  • Oversee prototype building processes and conduct thorough quality inspections
  • Conduct failure analysis of electronic sub-assemblies and optimize manufacturing yield
  • Collaborate on product maintenance guidelines

Requirements for the eDFM Engineer:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering or Material Science
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electronic board manufacturing and design
  • Optional: Experience in Design for X and testing
  • Preferred industries: Aerospace and Automotive

Competencies for the eDFM Engineer:

  • Proficiency in electrical system design, thermal packaging, and qualification methods
  • Knowledge of shock and vibration analysis and design qualification
  • Understanding of contract manufacturer processes and DFA tools like Valor
  • Strong decision-making and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and mentoring abilities
