A leading technology organisation based in Stroud, Gloucestershire are investing heavily into their research and development. They are currently recruiting for a range of engineering jobs across the business and one of these is a Electrical Design For Testability Engineer position to work on the supporting of automated test solutions with suppliers.
The successful Electrical Design For Testability Engineer will be working for a global technology business and the automated test systems being designed will ensure the reliability and quality of the company’s products.
Key Responsibilities for the Electrical Design For Testability Engineer:
- Collaborate closely with the electrical design team to define test requirements
- Perform testability analysis on PWA designs and suggest modifications to enhance test coverage
- Design test fixtures and select appropriate test bays, including developing the necessary hardware and harness interfaces
- Develop sequencer software for automatic testing using industry-standard tools such as GETS or National Instrument TestStand Software
- Commission test setups and software at contract manufacturers or technology centers
- Create and maintain product documentation, manage version control, and archive files appropriately
- Provide ongoing support to contract manufacturers or technology centers in diagnosing and troubleshooting potential issues
- Work with design engineers to develop data analytics solutions for manufacturing tests and field maintenance using generated datasets
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Strong knowledge of analog and digital electronics, communication protocols, low noise design, power electronics, grounding and shielding
- Experience in design for test (DFT) development flow
- Proficiency in manufacturing defect analysis techniques such as flying probe, AOI, and AXI
- Software skills including LabVIEW, LabWindows, TestStand/GETS (essential), PTF sequencer, and ToolScope TSS
- Familiarity with hardware lite systems like GETS bay hardware, BayLite, and NGLite
- Knowledge of manufacturing test set-up, schematics, Cadence, cabling/set-up assembly and requirements, bed of nails, compliance (CE marking, ROHS, WEEE), test product file, and GeMS
- Experience in data analytics and statistical analysis using tools like Excel
