Exciting opportunity to join a world leading organistation as a Manufacturing Test Engineer near Gloucester.

A leading technology organisation based in Stroud, Gloucestershire are investing heavily into their research and development. They are currently recruiting for a range of engineering jobs across the business and one of these is a Manufacturing Test Engineer position to work on the supporting of automated test solutions with suppliers.

The Manufacturing Test Engineer in Stonehouse will be responsible for managing all test systems required to support our manufacturing processes. This includes overseeing both the printed wiring assemblies (PWA) test systems at our contract suppliers and the in-house test systems for our assemblies.

Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Test Engineer:

  • Commission, track, and maintain equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Monitor capacity versus demand, identifying and implementing resource reassignment opportunities to maximize productivity.
  • Solve complex test system problems and provide input for the designs of current and future tests and test systems.
  • Collaborate closely with the electrical design team to define shopfloor test requirements.
  • Commission test set-up and software at the contract manufacturer or other technology centers.
  • Provide support after commissioning, assisting contract manufacturers or technology centers in diagnosing potential issues.
  • Work with design engineers to develop data analytics of data sets generated by PWA tests, both for manufacturing tests and field maintenance.

Experience & Exposures for the Manufacturing Test Engineer:

  • Minimum of a BSc/BEng in Electrical/Software Engineering or a related field.
  • Previous experience in production assembly and test processes.
  • Familiarity with various aspects of electrical engineering, including analog and digital electronics, communication protocols, low noise design, power electronics, and grounding and shielding.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing defect analysis tools such as flying probe, automated optical inspection (AOI), and automated X-ray inspection (AXI).
  • Proficiency in software tools such as LabVIEW, LabWindows, and National Instrument’s TestStand (imperative), as well as PTF sequencer.
  • Experience with hardware lite systems, including DIO, DAC, HVAC, HVDC, LVDC, CAN, GPIB, JTAG, function generators, digital multimeters (DMM), oscilloscopes, BayLite, and NGLite.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing test set-up, including schematics, Cadence, cabling and assembly requirements, bed of nails, compliance standards (CE marking, ROHS, WEEE), test product file, and engineering databases.
  • Proficiency in data analytics, including statistical analysis and working with tools like Excel.
