Mechanical Design Engineer – Exciting Opportunity in Product Development
I’m currently partnering with a fast-growing company that specialises in innovative electronic products and looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding R&D team.
This is a fantastic chance to work on the full design lifecycle of cutting-edge products, focusing on enclosures, fixtures, and mechanisms made from metal and plastic. You’ll be involved in concept development, 3D modelling (using SolidWorks), prototyping, and ensuring designs are ready for high-quality manufacture.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Creating concepts through sketching, mood boards, and 3D CAD
- Designing enclosures and mechanical components for plastic and metal manufacture
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including electronics and production engineers
- Developing production test fixtures for use locally and internationally
- Working with suppliers and manufacturers globally
- Ensuring designs meet specifications, industry standards, and cost targets
What You’ll Need:
- Proven experience in mechanical design with strong 2D and 3D skills, especially SolidWorks
- Experience designing products for injection moulding, sheet metal, or similar manufacturing processes
- A good eye for product styling and design for manufacture (DFM)
- Commercial awareness and problem-solving skills
- A team player with a passion for innovation and delivering high-quality products
Nice to Have:
- Experience designing for Far Eastern manufacturing
- Knowledge of materials and rapid prototyping techniques
- Experience with technical drawings and drafting
