Mechanical designer for digital audio mixers and related products
|
|
Main activities & responsibilities
|
Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer you will be heavily involved in the mechanical design and development of high-end audio mixing desks; the role will cover industrial design through to factory support. This will include:
- Detail design of all the mechanical aspects for road mapped products.
- Creative industrial design and concept development for potential products.
- Provide manufacturing drawings or data to subcontractors.
- Implement and record design changes.
- Ensure all new parts and mechanical BOM’s are correct, updated and able to be entered onto the MRP system
- Ensure purchasing is aware of any design changes.
- Liaise with the Marketing department to help design and maintain logos, designs and artwork continuity.
- Creation of artworks for products and packaging.
- Creation of loom drawings and wiring diagrams
- Liaise with the factory to implement new products.
- Production support, creation and implementation engineering change notes
- Input to overall project plans. In addition, there will be opportunity to manage projects as the project lead.

Education, qualifications
|
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related subject or equivalent experience
|
- MSc in Mechanical or related subject or equivalent experience
|
|
Experience
|
- Minimum 2-5 years industrial experience in mechanical design
- Experience with designing complex mechanical products using a DFM methodology
- Some experience with project managing paper to production electro-mechanical projects
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles
- Experience in CAD based mechanical design, simulation / verification, synthesis and analysis
|
- Interested in audio and/or audio mixing systems
- Understanding of thermals
- Project management qualification
|
|
Practical & intellectual skills (inc. special knowledge)
|
- Experienced and fully conversant with mechanical CAD packages
- Good knowledge of vector based 2D image creation tools
- Working knowledge of engineering change documentation processes
- Fabrication of parts using varying processes including: Folded metal, extrusions, machined parts, 3D printed parts, injection moulding, casting
- Creating assembly drawings
- Drawing wiring looms
- Bill of materials and parts lists
- Knowledge of engineering materials
- Knowledge of bonding techniques

- Project management skills and the ability to manage a project.
- Experienced with Autodesk Inventor, Vault and AutoCAD
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator
- Experience with vertex–based modelling packages such as 3DS Max and Blender
