A leading research and development organisation based in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, which was founded over 50 years ago, and has 200+ employees are looking to expand their engineering team. They are seeking a capable Mechanical Engineering Manager to join them in their next phase of new product development. You will manage a mechanical engineering team (8 design engineers) and drive product development. Their Engineering Headquarters in Huntingdon is commutable from parts of Cambridge, St Ives, St Neots, Peterborough, Kettering, Bedford, and Corby.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of mechanical design engineers.
- Work within client / company budgets and timeframes.
- Lead design and DFMEA reviews.
- Support and work closely with electronic engineers, software engineers, and scientists.
- Create reports and documentation where necessary.
Knowledge and skills required:
- Experience in leading mechanical engineers within a multi-disciplined electro-mechanical environment.
- Ability to manage product development projects from concept through to manufacture.
- Previous experience with precision mechanisms, plastic injection molded parts, and pressed metal parts.
- Previous 3D CAD design experience using Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.
- Product development for low to medium volume production / manufacture.
