REPORTING TO Site Director

ROLE We have a vacancy for an Optical Design Engineer. The successful candidate would be working within an established multi-disciplinary team to develop designs for transmission and reflective optical systems. The company is actively involved in optics as diverse as military vehicle sighting systems (in the IR and LWIR bands), II Tube vision systems, SWIR band optics and ultra-high precision laser system optics. The role will focus on the design and development of products through the full product development lifecycle, from concept to manufacture, system integration and production. The company has a proven track record in the development of products for a range of applications across the visible, and infra-red wavelengths and as an established International organisation we can offer excellent opportunities for career progression. As part of a small, tightly-knit team the successful candidate can look forward to playing a pivotal and active role from the out-set whilst receiving mentorship and development from industry leading figures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree 2:1 or better

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Optical design and simulation,

• Lens design and lens data documentation,

• Assembly process development,

• Develop prototypes, and new product introduction,

• Monte Carlo analysis

• Practical test and measurement

• Input to factory and type approval testing set-ups and design

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

• On time delivery, cost and quality expectations of projects within his / her responsibility

• Delivery of solutions meeting legislative and operating quality systems

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Optical, Engineering or related Science degree,

• Knowledge of optical component and optical system design,

• Knowledge of Zemax optical design software
