We are seeking an experienced Physicist to support and input to Technology and Product Development (T&PD) projects covering:

• Instrument and experimental design
• Planning and execution of experiments
• Analysis of data
• Modelling
• Formulation and presentation of conclusions and Report writing

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide scientific input to the design, build and testing of experimental equipment.
• Plan and conduct original research for the purposes of design and performance enhancement.
• Critically appraise experimental data and theory and provide guidance based on interpretation of data.
• Identify gaps and propose additional work.
• Contribute to project planning and review activities.
• Support scientific aspects of products throughout their lifecycle.
• Manage own time and work with a high degree of autonomy. May lead work of a technician.
• Provide support to off-site trials and tests.
• Work in accordance with local company policies and procedures.
• Provide hands-on support and up-to-date technical advice to Technical Authorities and Product Managers, at proposal, design specification, development, testing and production stages and assist in bid preparation.
• Have a good working knowledge of relevant products and technologies and an understanding of other detection technologies and products.

Required skills and experience

• Degree in Physics, Physical Chemistry or similar discipline
• Experience in experimental design in academic / industrial environment
• Holding a PhD is a great advantage
• Previous practical experience with mass spectrometry, ion mobility spectrometry, microscopy, X-Ray or similar technologies could be an asset
• Excellent data management and analytical skills
• Competent in Microsoft Office
• Clear and critical thinker
• Good presentation skills
• Team player attitude
