Power Electronics Design Engineer
Birmingham, UK

This is an exciting time for Power Electronics Design Engineers.

New components and topologies are allowing companies to push boundaries of what you can do with typical power supplies which means new, ground-breaking products are hitting the market.

My client, based in Birmingham, are looking for bright engineers who want to see exactly how far they can take this technology.

The successful Power Electronics Design Engineer will develop complete systems, from concept through to production, to deliver high voltage (5-10 kV), high power (1-5kW) and high frequency (10-100 kHz) outputs.

They will be powered by a range of sources including AC mains, batteries, PTO alternators and solar.

Ideally you will need to have experience in the following areas;

• Knowledge of power electronics rectification / converter topologies;

• Ability to assess different power topologies on an application-by-application basis;

• Magnetics (power transformers, inductors) design;

• Understanding of power semiconductor characteristics;

• Analogue circuit design;

• Schematic capture and PCB layout;

You will also have a degree in electrical or electronics engineering with a focus on power electronics design.

Of course, you will be given a competitive salary and benefits package including private healthcare, pension, life insurance, company sick pay and professional membership fees paid.

But the real attraction for this role is the opportunity to work in and research environment with some of the greatest minds in the industry who are releasing products as we speak.

If you have experience designing AC-DC or DC-DC switch mode power converters or inverters in your current job and have used various topologies such as flyback, buck/boost, linear, multiphase, full/half bridge, push/pull etc. please get in touch.

For highly skilled and experienced Power Electronics Design Engineers, we will provide visa sponsorship and relocation assistance.
