Role Overview

A dynamic company is seeking a skilled Production Quality Engineer to oversee quality control processes from goods-inwards inspection through to the final inspection stage. The successful candidate will ensure efficient capture, reporting, and resolution of quality-related non-conformities, maintaining and updating the Quality Assurance database with a focus on reducing both internal and external non-conformities.

Key Responsibilities for the Production Quality Engineer job:

  • Quality Assurance and Reporting: Maintain the company Quality Assurance database (NCR) to track and resolve non-conformities efficiently. Provide QA data to support corrective actions in collaboration with the manufacturing engineering team.

  • Facilitate RFT Culture: Lead a culture of Right First Time (RFT) throughout production by managing daily Material Review Board (MRB) meetings, promoting process compliance, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.

  • Goods Inwards Inspection: Develop and execute a strategic QA inspection process for incoming materials to ensure they meet required drawings and specifications while maintaining a steady supply for production.

  • Non-Conformity Management: Record all non-conformities (NCRs) and develop a reporting structure to clearly identify, track, and resolve QA issues promptly. Communicate QA-related issues internally and externally to resolve non-conformities swiftly.

  • Work Instruction Development: Collaborate with Product Development and Production Support teams to review and update task-specific work instructions. Conduct periodic reviews of shop floor work instructions to ensure they remain current.

  • Supplier Quality Support: Work with the Purchasing Team and Supplier Quality Engineer to review supplier metrics and enhance supplier performance and parts delivery to the factory.

  • Performance Feedback: Provide quality data to production teams through regular meetings, highlighting areas for improvement and supporting continuous enhancement of quality standards.

  • QA Performance Reporting: Contribute to quarterly reports on QA performance, providing insights and data to inform strategic decisions.

Additional Duties for Production Quality Engineer job:

  • Health and Safety: Uphold company HSE standards and participate in on-site health and safety audits.

  • Auditing and Inspection: Conduct internal and external QA audits as needed and support final inspection and molding inspection processes.

  • Travel: Ability to travel to visit suppliers as required.

Qualifications and Experience needed for the Production Quality Engineer job

  • Relevant business, commercial, manufacturing, or engineering degree preferred, or ONC, A Levels, BTEC Diploma Level 4, or equivalent NVQ Level 4 qualification.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a similar QA role within a fast-paced production environment.
  • Membership of a professional body and professional qualifications are advantageous.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Adobe software, and SAP.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) procedures and the ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with experience in methodologies like 6S or 8D.
  • Solid knowledge of FAIR, PPAP, FMEA, ISO9000, ISO14001, and Health and Safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present data effectively.
  • Strong planning, prioritizing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment with excellent team-working capabilities.
