Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental Manager – Manchester
An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to join the Diamorph CPM Group, based at their Manchester site. This permanent position offers the chance to lead on all aspects of Quality and HS&E management, ensuring compliance, driving best practice, and shaping a positive culture of safety and quality across the organisation.
As Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental Manager, the successful candidate will report to the Head of Quality and Head of Health, Safety & Environment, Permali, and will take responsibility for overseeing legal compliance, implementing management systems, and leading a small team, including a Quality Engineer and a Process Engineer. Based in Manchester, this is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategic oversight with day-to-day operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities of the Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental Manager:

Manage all onsite Quality and HS&E activities for the Manchester CPM value stream

Maintain and develop Quality and HS&E management systems to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards

Lead and mentor a small Quality team, providing guidance and direction

Manage statutory inspections, audits, and risk assessments (PUWER, COSHH, DSEAR, Fire, Manual Handling etc.)

Drive cultural change across Health, Safety and Environmental practices

Oversee customer and supplier non-conformance management, including root cause analysis

Lead problem-solving initiatives to reduce manufacturing losses, scrap, and MRB

Deliver employee inductions, toolbox talks, and HS&E training programmes

Act as key liaison with customers, suppliers, certification bodies, and auditors

Ensure legal compliance across all areas of Quality, Health, Safety & Environment

Report regularly on KPI performance into the CPM Group
Skills & Experience Required:
-
Proven track record in Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental Management within manufacturing

GRAD IOSH membership (or higher), with Lead Auditor certification for ISO 45001 & ISO 9001

Strong knowledge of ISO standards and regulatory compliance

Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring teams

Advanced IT skills, with strong competence in MS Office tools

Analytical and methodical approach, with excellent attention to detail
Desirable:
-
NEBOSH certification (or willingness to gain)

AIEMA Environmental status
-
Experience in OHSAS 45001, ISO 14001 & ISO 9001 standards

CDM experience and ILM qualification
-
Train the Trainer qualification (PETTLS)

Familiarity with PFMEA and Control Plans
