Scope of the Role

 

The Quality Engineer’s main role is to ensure the successful implementation and ongoing function of the Quality Management System (QMS). To ensure the successful achievement of Quality Business Strategy and wider Business Strategy targets.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The below list is not exhaustive, but the main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Implement, maintain, and improve the business’ Quality Management System.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies, and standards.
  • Deploy structured problem-solving techniques to drive continuous improvement of our business processes.
  • Host third party audits to ensure the continuous attainment of standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 13485.
  • Work proactively with the New Product Introduction team to ensure quality is built into the product and manufacturing process from the outset.
  • Support the Purchasing department in approving new vendors via the completion of PPAP activities.
  • Carry out on site and remote quality audits as required.
  • Review CAPA actions and ensure actions are effective prior to approval.
  • Maintain and update quality documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and project records.

Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours

The postholder will possess a range of the following knowledge, skills, and behaviours:

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and other ISO standards required.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a Quality role with experience within electronics highly desirable.
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt or higher.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to provide guidance to improve quality and process efficiency of supplied parts.
  • Experience in a similar manufacturing environment with production processes relevant to the role and the business.
  • Previous experience with PCBA manufacture highly desirable.
  • Ability to mitigate/reduce risk to product quality and factor this into decision making on supplied materials in collaboration with other business departments.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards relevant to product quality.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement using problem solving activities.
  • Internal auditing experience highly desirable.
