About the Role

WSL (Woodrow Scientific Limited, UK) are looking for an experienced digital electronics design engineer with excellent PC GUI design skills to join our growing technical team.

Reporting to WSL’s Principal Electronics Engineer, you will be a part of a small design team, focused on developing lasers, optical amplifiers and laser-cleaning tools for a wide range of industrial and scientific applications.

Key Responsibilities

· Take ownership of the software interfaces and control function of our first laser cleaning tools

· Participate in the definition and development of digital electronics for other projects and products

· Contribute to the development of company processes as the company transforms from a start-up environment into a volume manufacturer of high-tech lasers and systems

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ year industrial experience
  • Visual C# for PC GUI development
  • C for ARM microcontrollers (Experience with STMicro is an advantage)
  • High speed digital design for optical signaling and pulse generation, including digital logic design and FPGA design
  • Experience in machine control, data communications interfaces such as USB, Ethernet and CAN
  • Schematic capture using Altium
  • Fluent command of the English language

Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience

  • Experience working on the design of lasers and laser systems
  • Chassis wiring design and cable management
  • EMC design and testing
  • UKCA/CE Documentation Processes
  • Weak signal amplifier circuits
