Role Overview

As a senior electronics engineer, your role is pivotal in developing cutting-edge analogue and digital electronic systems and components. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring that the final products exceed the highest quality and performance standards. Your collaborative efforts within Engineering will contribute to creating safe, reliable, and customer-expectation-meeting products. Your work will be invaluable in integrating subsystems, testing prototypes, and troubleshooting issues, ultimately contributing to ETL’s future success.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Mentor and support colleagues to support ETL Systems’ future growth plans.
  • Developing and implementing electronics hardware and firmware with awareness of RF and high-speed digital requirements, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and FPGA SoM integration.
  • Test and debug digital hardware designs to ensure they meet all requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs meet all requirements, contributing system architecture design as necessary.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on design improvements.
  • Developed and maintained design documentation, including schematics, BOMs, test plans, and system connectivity documentation.
  • Stay current with the latest digital electronics design trends and technologies.
  • Familiarity with change and software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review.


Our ideal candidate

To excel in the role, you should have significant hands-on experience in Electronic Design and be skilled in product development. This includes expertise in schematic capture, PCB layout, and Embedded C (Bare Metal).  Good working knowledge of RF, high-speed digital (10 Gbit Ethernet) and FPGAs is desirable. Additionally, you must have experience in testing and debugging hardware designs. You must have experience with drivers interfacing with SPI, I2C, RS485, CAN, and Ethernet to be successful in this position. You should be proficient in Analog and Digital Circuit Design, including SMPS, microprocessors, ADCs, DACs, etc.

Desirables

  • It would be fantastic if you have previous experience in Embedded C programming PIC18/32 microchips and some knowledge of web page development (JS / HTML / CSS).
  • Experience with high-speed digital (10Gbit ethernet) design and layout.
  • Familiarity with worldwide industry standards pertaining to electronics and telecommunications.
  • Ideally, you will be accustomed to working in a small team, and collaborating with other teams to ensure that your designs meet all necessary requirements is preferable.


Location 

  • Hybrid working available 
  • Regular travel will be required between our offices in Rickmansworth and Hereford (up to 2 days per month on average).
