My client is designing electronics using advanced technologies such as SiC and GaN to combine compressors and turbines to deliver reliable and a more sustainable methods to run combustion engines.

They are now looking to grow their team in Portsmouth by adding 2 more Senior Power Electronics Design Engineers. You will be working on 4 exciting new projects that they have just won, which includes their ultra high-speed electric motor drives.

Experience needed as a Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer:

• Design of electrified vehicle or industrial power electronics, such as drives, grid tied power generation including transistor selection, gate drive design, power supply design, measurements circuits, operating and protection strategies.
• Able to prepare appropriate test bench and test
• Can develop concept, proving key technologies and demonstrating the system functionality.
• To design and test adequate thermal management solutions for power electronics systems.
• Ensure designs can comply with relevant EMC/EMI standards and modifying the design where needed to ensure this is the case.

Knowledge and qualifications needed as a Senior Power Electronics Engineer:

• Degree in degree in Electronic Engineering or other relevant discipline with a demonstrable level of industrial experience.
• It’ll be a bonus if you have knowledge of power electronic devices, including silicon based IGBTs and MOSFETs through to emerging SiC / GaN based technologies: gate driver, control architecture and measurement circuits, selection/characterisation of devices for inverter, DC/DC converters and battery charger applications
