Technical Manager

 

Job Objective

 

The Technical Manager (Medical & Scientific) is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies and plans to maintain and grow the established business within the Medical & Scientific markets.

They must meet or exceed annual sales goals (both Revenue and New Business Opportunity Funnel) and grow customer share within the channel. The individual is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships at assigned accounts to ensure effective and efficient utilisation of resources.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • This role will focus primarily on Medical and Scientific customers.
  • Call on assigned accounts and identify technical value where our capabilities can provide solutions, identify new business opportunities (NBO), grow/maintain established business and close new orders.
  • Understand customers business model, technology roadmap and internal process for vendor status and acceptance, recognize technology opportunities within applications, manage sales process through the specification of our product and coordinate the acquisition of the sale worldwide upon design win.
  • Identify qualified new business opportunities based on finding solutions for the customer.
  • Utilize resources to isolate customers problems, associate a solution through differentiation of product offering and engagement to win.
  • Analyse accounts and develop overall strategic plans to increase customer share.
  • Monitor and manage the development of assigned channel partners and their performance centred on NBO development.
  • Facilitate the implementation of NPI (New Product Introduction) and promotional/marketing programs.
  • Coordinate the appropriate resources (internally and externally) as necessary to resolve problems involving pricing, product specifications, warranties, terms and conditions and product modifications/change notices.
  • Maintain accurate assessment of target and opportunity funnel within the CRM system. Manage all sales activities through CRM.
  • Update customers on new products and technology as related to customer needs.

 

Qualifications: Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, material science or similar, relevant field.

Special Skills:

  • Results driven with previous experience of technical component engineering, preferably in high reliability for medical or scientific systems.
  • Deep knowledge of glass-to-metal-seal components, hermetic packaging, electro-plating would be extremely advantageous.
  • Ability to support customers and production.
  • Strong influencing skills.
  • Must have excellent research and information gathering abilities.
  • Must be able to distil raw data into concise trends, messages and reports.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years related experience in a technical engineering role

Location: Home working / on the road with monthly visits to our manufacturing sites, as required.
