Job Description
Role Title – Development Engineer
Working hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00 – 17:00 Friday 08:00 – 13:00 (occasional overtime may be required).
Location: Normanton, West Yorkshire.
Reporting to: Engineering Manager
General Description:
- To support the engineering team in the generation of innovative power and control electronics primarily for lighting applications.
- To design electrical wiring looms used within lighting luminaires.
- Testing of parts/assemblies for full Type Test Compliance.
- Supporting internal and external customers by providing technical information.
Job Functions:
- Support the design team in activities to aid the progress of new product development.
- Carry out detailed testing of new/existing designs.
- Manage the External Regulatory Approvals (EMC, Environmental) Testing.
- Generate technical documentation to substantiate the design.
- Compile the Type Test Reports and Product Test Specifications.
- Design wiring looms, including connector selection for lighting applications.
- Build prototype assemblies.
- Design and Build Test equipment and jigs.
- Develop automated test systems to improve the test and product release process.
- Liaise with other disciplines, both internal and external, to ensure an effective completion of the design process.
- Support the business in all technical matters.
- Other duties as required by Technical Director or Engineering Manager.
Skills/Qualification (Essential):
- Electronics Degree or equivalent.
- Experience of ATE (Automatic Test Equipment).
Skills/Qualification (Desirable):
- Experience of Regulatory Approval Testing.
- SW Script Programming – (Python, Embedded ‘C’).
